First dress I designed
I bought my sewing machine 2 years ago. At the time I was determined to be the next brilliant couture designer. So far I have only made 2 items of clothing… Yes I am very embarrassed to admit. I still hope to be a couture designer, it’s just a dream that is slow to reach. My poor sewing machine was collecting a layer of dust during the last 2 years. I blame it on actuarial exams, but there are no excuses. I need to make more time for my hobbies. It is something I am determined to do this year.
So this dress was the first thing I ever made. There was a lot of trial and error. The first piece of material I cut out was too thin that I couldn’t even wrap it around myself. So I decided that I needed to use a measuring tape instead of cutting corners. When I was shopping for material, I picked up a roll of gold and a roll of floral material. They clashed so severely next to each other. But I felt that the clash would just work. Lining the edges of the floral material with gold was pretty tricky and there were a few dodgy sewing areas that luckily aren’t too noticeable.
Would love to hear what everyone thinks about the first dress I designed!
