Flying without wings
Wings are symbolic of so many thing. Flying to freedom, rising above a challenge, escaping to a new world, discovering your spirituality. So many mythical creatures have wings. From the noble griffin to the powerful dragon. We imagine humans growing wings in the form of angels and fairies. So what makes humans wish so much for our own pair of wings? Is it the yearning for power or the need for an escape? Are we so unsatisfied with our gift of walking on two feet that we crave for a pair of wings.
I sometimes sit and watch the birds circle high above me. I often wonder if they realise the gift they have and how much we envy them. Humans are always looking and discovering. We crave adventure and the unknown. We think that wings will bring us adventure and power and freedom. But we can achieve all of this with just courage and perseverance and two little feet.
