I have always loved oil paintings for their tradition, depth and beauty. I long to step into a beautifully painted landscape of sparkling waterfalls, leaves rustling in the wind and vibrant fields of sunflowers and daisies. For a painting can capture so much movement and so much life that it draws me in so close until I simply must step in and explore. Sometimes a painting can capture more atmosphere, more perspective and a deeper story than a camera. I don’t know whether it is the texture or the colors or the brush strokes that brings the life into a painting, but I truly appreciate the fine aesthetics that go into it.
My time taking photos in this tranquil landscape is probably the closest I will get to stepping into an oil painting. The deep red color of my outfit, the texture of the foliage behind me, the feeling of calmness surrounding me. It all reminded me of a glorious oil painting. I know I will never be able to truly experience a world where everything is an oil painting, but it is a beautiful thought and I will keep wishing for it to be possible.
